The story of the Poseidon began with a small group of clients in the USA who had developed personal systems of the highest quality and were using top of the range Stage III cabling throughout, including a full loom of Leviathan power cables. They approached Stage III and asked if there were any possible improvements that could be made to the power delivery that could potentially improve the sound quality and unlock further information from their systems. Stage III decided to build a prototype of a cost-no-object ultimate performance cable and test it in their systems. Then listening tests would reveal if engineering power cables to that level was worth the effort and expense. The prototypes were finished a few months later, they were taken to the locations of these systems and listening tests were conducted with the owners and a listening panel. The results were so conclusive, that the new cables were bought into production as the Poseidon range.
This cable is designed for a very small number of audiophiles, similar to the clients that approached Stage III. It is very heavy, very expensive and has a materials cost that is frankly unbelievable. Each cable takes many weeks to be made by hand and the technologies used in the Poseidon are not only unique to Stage III, they have never been attempted by any other brand. "All I can really say about the Poseidon is that I’ve never heard as much of this record as I’ve heard tonight. Full bodied mids, deep bass, complete treble, with an extraordinary soundstage. I was in the music. I guess something will come along at some point that will cause me to think, “this is better,” but right now, I just don’t need anymore....
