DESCRIPTION
The CDT-100 is YPSILON’s top loading cd player/transport. The transport’s primary objective is to retrieve data from the CD with as much accuracy as possible. The laser head is extremely sensitive to vibrations so the CDT-100 has been designed to provide a rigid and resonant free platform. The mechanism is mechanically modified to optimise performance and assembled within a massive ‘sandwich’ construction of thick stainless steel and aluminium plates. In this way, the resonance issues associated with a traditional box shaped chassis are greatly reduced. The result is a solid, coherent construction that in combination with the suspension system provides vibration free operation.
The CDT-100 has been designed to perform at a reference standard. It features a SPDIF output so it can be linked to any outboard DAC. However for ultimate performance, which will astonish all who encounter the combination, it connects via the 5-pin output to the Ypsilon DAC-1000.
CDT-100 contains a non-oversampling DAC, with multi-bit Burr Brown DAC chips. The power supply regulation for the DAC is designed to only use high quality shunt regulators. The current output of the DAC chips is level shifted in the current domain and through an in-house manufactured c-core transformer becomes a voltage signal connected directly to the next-gen output connectors. No feedback is used and only one low noise SE class A JFET is involved in the signal path. The result is a superb sonic purity and transparency, allowing it to be used as a source for high performance systems.
CDT-100 provides 3 outputs:
The use of the 5-pin output with DAC-100 is highly recommended for optimum performance. It is our belief that transmitting audio in the digital domain (SPDIF) has its imperfections and adds a certain character to the sound. The frequency of bit clock and data bit is too high for transferring the signal in a transparent way.

- One SPDIF 75Ω next-gen connector
- One pair of RCA analogue connections, for use as a CD player
- One Neutric 5-pin analogue current output for use with DAC-100

Mono and Stereo, Matej Isak & Ahmet Kip, 2016
"The Ypsilon CDT-100 is hell of a fantastic CD player and should be considered amongst a very few that carry CD playback to the highest echelon of the audio experience. Despite its profound musical performance, it also cured my feeling of regression by showing the unconscious investment I made on CDs in years was not as stupid as I thought. And this I credit more than anything else."
